Libdem Budget Proposals approved by Council
Wyre Forest Liberal Democrats are delighted that their Budget Proposals have been approved by Council.
The Wyre Forest District Council failed to get a majority to pass its budget proposals at the Meeting in February and at the following adjourned meeting on 1st March resulted in the Adminstration accepting the Liberal Democrats proposals.
The Libdem District Councillors, Shazu Miah, Fran Oborski and Alan Totty proposed:
- Keeping the £1000 community leadership fund to support local and community groups
- A Boundary Review but ensuring no reduction of councillors to ensure residents are represented adequately and their voices heard
- The Management Review to take place earlier to potentially save £400,000.
The £1000 per Councillor Community Fund which is used to support local groups in our communities will return in full for this year. Our community and volunteer groups are an integral part of our society and help to support a range of activities from party's in the park to food banks and children and diverse groups.
An Election Boundary Review which will be necessitated once the outcome of the Wyre Forest Local Plan Review but will not now be used as a means of cutting the number of Councillrs to save money. The Libdems believe that every resident should be heard and the plans to increase housing thereby increasing the population means actually there may be a need for more councillors.
Bringing forward a Management Review to start in September 2021 and be fully implemented by April 2022 is in line with the proposals.
