Burlish Meadows: Send your objection
Wyre Forest District Council has agreed in principle to sell around 8.5 hectares, roughly a fifth, of Burlish Meadows Conservation Area (the old golf course) to Kidderminster Harriers FC for training pitches. Burlish Meadows is rare acid grassland and heathland that the council itself spent years restoring for wildlife. Losing this Stourport land to plastic football pitches is wrong.
As your Liberal Democrat councillor for Lickhill, I am opposing this sale. I am not persuaded that "biodiversity net gain" somewhere else can replace established habitat here, and I fear that once part of the Meadows goes, nothing protects the rest from further loss, even the building of a new stadium. I am working with other councillors, local groups and residents to stop this sale.
Please object. Send your objection to Jamie Sloan at jamie.sloan@wyreforestdc.gov.uk before 14 August 2026.
The more the council hear from you, the harder this is to push through.
