Spending To Be Cut on Year 5 and 6 Pupils!

7.46.12pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 30th May 2006

NOW - Year 5 and 6 pupils in Middle Schools in Kidderminster are funded with up to £5,000 per pupil per year for their schooling.

FUTURE- When the same age children switch to Primary Schools in September 2007 the amount allocated to be spent on them will be half that amount.

WHY- This is because Middle Schools with children aged 9-13 are funded as secondary schools with more cash and Primary Schools are funded as Primary Schools with a lot less cash.

The Conservative County Council did not make parents aware of theses cuts on spending to year 5 and 6 pupils when the school Review was conducted. Were you made aware this would happen?

In other areas of Worcestershire where schools have been kept, the Conservative County Council will continue to spend up to £5,000 per pupil on year 5 and 6. Is that being fair to our children?
