Wyre Forest Liberal Democrat Candidates in the Worcestershire County Council Elections

9.50.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sun 24th Apr 2005

Councillor Helen Dyke

St Marys Division

Helen Dyke

Councillor Helen Dyke has been a District Councillor for over 9 years and has a reputation for hard work, action and results. Although she deals with many issues at District level she feels that residents in Wyre Forest are being sold short by the Conservative led County Council.

Our local bus services are appalling, roads and pavements are in a terrible condition and when repaired the workmanship is poor, litter is getting worse, policing is poor and local parents were ignored during the Wyre Forest Schools Review, this hardly shows a record of Worcestershire County Council working with residents in Wyre Forest.

Helen Dyke has a proven record of standing up for the people she represents and is obvious that a new voice is needed for the St Marys Division to make clear that the people of the area are important, their views count and they should have a say about the decisions taken at County Hall

Councillor Peter Dyke

Chaddesley Division

Peter Dyke

Councillor Peter Dyke is a District Councillor for the Spennells Area where his name is associated with action and results. To be able to provide an all round service to Spennells and then Chaddesley Division he is standing as a candidate in the County Council Elections. With fellow Liberal Democrats at County Hall he is working to address issues and concerns reported to him by local residents.

He is campaigning for more local police to combat the problems of crime, anti-social behaviour, vandalism and general acts of nuisance and as a member of a local community group he is working to provide more facilities for all age groups. Problems such as poor road surfaces, poor workmanship, mounting litter, very poor public transport and the implementation of the Wyre Forest School Review all show the neglect for our area shown by the Conservative led County Council. A vote for Peter Dyke will give a strong voice and action for our area.

Mr Adrian Beavis

St Johns Ward

Adrian Beavis

Adrian Beavis is Chairman of the Wyre Forest Neighbourhood Watch Association and a member of the Wyre Forest Community Safety Partnership. He knows the concern of local residents about crime, anti-social behaviour and general nuisance and he is campaigning for more police for our area. He feels the Conservative County Council has neglected Wyre Forest for too long and he is fighting for fairer Education funding for local children, better public transport, better road repairs and improved workmanship, better services to residents and less bureaucracy all round. The Conservatives have already shown their disregard for the residents of our area by totally ignoring their protests about the Wyre Forest Schools Review and voting for it to go through.

Adrian believes that the St Johns Division of the County Council need and deserves a Councillor that will listen to, care for and consult its residents on issues that affect them and fight for its interests at all times and he feels he is that person.

Ms Ellen Walker

St George and St Oswald Ward

Ellen Walker

I have lived in Kidderminster all my life and I feel I have seen our town getting progressively poor deals over past years. I feel it is time to choose an agenda that offers a vision for the future, for our area to make things fairer for all. As a Liberal Democrat I want to see better Educational Provision for our children and better access to Health Care when needed for local people. Replacing Council Tax with a Local Income tax will benefit the older members of our community, as it would mean they pay less leaving them financially better off.

As a local business woman and transport professional with 20 years experience, I see the real need for improved transport infrastructure and policies which would encourage diversity of businesses to flourish and bring long term prosperity to our town. This would benefit all local residents. The use of the Liberal Democrat Environmental Policies as a guideline could see this achieved within an environmentally sustainable framework.
